Tempestuous Love

Our love rose like storm-winds over a restless sea,

Sky split open where your wild heartbeat touched mine.

Thunder rolled each time our lips collided,

Lightning braided its silver into your stare.

I felt the tide heave beneath my ribs,

Pulled by the moon-drag of your name.

We danced in the wreckage of gentle mornings,

Feet tangled in the spray of undone promises.

Your voice, a gale tearing through my quiet,

My longing, a sail strained to its last seam.

We burned like ship-lanterns in furious rain,

Casting shards of gold across the dark.

Yet every touch was a rising tempest,

Every promise, a cloud swelling toward rupture.

Still I followed the flicker of your storm-lit smile,

Through whirlpools spun from your shifting moods.

Even as shadows roared between us,

I clung to the mast of what we might become.

And when the tempest finally shattered our horizon,

Love washed ashore—wrecked, glittering, undiminished
