OASIS
The arid desert,
In a lonely part
Of the earth somewhere,
Golden sand dunes stare
At from all corners,
Marking their own borders.
Golden sand sparkles,
Creates ripples
Just like the waves
Of the ocean,
Always in motion
The dusty,sandy commotion.
Thirsty traveller,
With the wind acting bawler,
Crosses the mirages,
Various visages,
Looking for vegetation
And traces of population.
A parched throat,
Looking for a watery moat,
Feels relieved
And not deceived
At the sight of palms
Lined up, soothing like balm.
A crystal clear lake
Inviting for a break,
Like a turquoise moon
It shone,
Quenched his thirst,
Thankfully it was not the bubble that burst.
The scattered green
Livened the scene
With their sheen,
And the dancing blue in between,
The fresh sparkle
Of the lake, sandy mounts like gold barbels.
That tiny little hamlet,
Sitting within the desert breast,
Provided him refuge
In the sandy deluge,
Where nature in different hues
Took him in her embrace huge.
He felt at home in the alien terrain,
Providing succour to his pain,
Nature's mercies were many,
Abundant and plenty,
Like this beautiful little oasis
That soothes his burns with cool kisses.
The oasis, fertile and green,
Like a diamond in the crown of a queen,
Colourful and welcoming,
Soothing and comforting
Like a mother's lap,
In the vast sandy, dry desert map.
