PINK WINTER



Grey fogs,
Hazy mornings,
Dewy breeze
Leaving wet pearls
In the hair,
Smoky words,
Warm tea cups
Warming the hands,
Strength of the sun
Beaten,
Tries to peep in
In vain,
Calandulas, pansies,
Marigolds, daisies,
Adeniums, verbenas, 
Sweet peas, dahlias,
Nasturtiums, 
Carnations,
All add colour to the grey around, 
Vegetables abound,
Artichokes, avocados, 
Cabbage, carrots, 
Sweet potatoes,
Snow peas,
Parsnips, turnips,
Watercress, radish,
Squashes and leeks,
Broccoli and beets
Cheer up the appetite,
The taste buds they satisfy,
Oranges and clementine,
Apples, tangerines,
Add tanginess
To a mellow sun,
Grapes, kiwis,
Pears, cranberries,
Warm up the cold 
Afternoons,
With yellow bananas, 
Some lemons
And persimmons,
Roasted veggies 
And butternut squash,
Smoking pancakes,waffles 
And applesauce,
An array of dry fruits,
Almonds, raisins, cashews,
Add up to the warmth
Cozied in hearts,
Faces transformed,
Covered with woollies heavy,
Smiling eyes show
With red noses,
Pink cheeks,
As the serpentine river
Dances in glee,
Snow covered mountains 
Forming a white backdrop
To the wintery colours,
Whistling winds 
Rhyme with 
The tolling bells
That usher in 
The Yuletide spirit,
As Santa dashes through the cold
Distributing cheers,
The pink winter cold invites me
Into her lap
With warm fleeces of love.
