"MY UNFORGETTABLE CHRISTMAS EXPERIENCE"

Each year as Christmas draws near,
I am reminded of memories dear,
Of childhood Yuletide festivities,
That danced through our house on Christmas.

Daddy put up the Christmas tree,
Decorated by brother,sister and me,
The nostrils still get the aroma of cakes
That Mommy so lovingly baked.

The colourful ribbons,
Cheery festoons,
The shining star that sparkled
Along with shimmering baubles.

Beautiful lacy dresses,
Happy inflow of cheerful guests,
Puddings and turkeys,
Cake slices dipped in chocolate syrup of Hershey's.

Happy greetings,
Singing and dancing,
Food and merry making,
Hanging of stockings.

Still remember that Christmas,
For a special gift, I was listless,
I cried and weeped,
Before I went off to sleep.

I saw Santa come braving the snowfall,
Shaking off the snow, he walked in the hall,
Chubby and so cute; smiling he looked at me,
Said," Hey Princess! This is what I got for thee".

I woke up rubbing my eyes,
The tear stains still fresh from my cries,
Lo and behold! There lay the speaking doll I so wanted,
My dear Santa had to me lovingly gifted.

My happiness knew no bounds,
In joy I danced around,
Little did I know then that Mom and Dad in camouflage
Were actually the real Santa Claus.

Till this day that Yuletide joy, the happiness,
Remains with me, my unforgettable Christmas experience,
Now I try to spread the same happiness
And see them in the eyes of the not so privileged kids.

I tell you, playing Santa is so much fun,
With the children, when you are one,
When their eyes with happiness glitter,
I see the old Christmas star, the baubles that shimmered.
