MOM

Under the shade of Mom's care,
I need not fear
The demons roaming around,
She helps me stand steady, on my ground,
She makes everything sound sweet and good,
Makes everything well understood,
She fed me when I was small,
Now helps me hunt for food near the seawall,
Her wings protect from the winds and blizzards,
For me she is a master wizard
Who can do anything,
Create me and make me something,
She is my mother,
My greatest teacher.

She taught me to walk,
The ways to talk,
She helped me with my first steps,
Never made fun of my missteps,
Taught me to squawk and cackle,
At small things giggle,
Helped me take my first flight,
Pushed me, to overcome my fright,
When I get tired or lose a race,
She is there to comfort me in her embrace,
She is herself a beautiful creature,
To learn, always eager,
She taught me to love dreams, herself a dreamer,
Teaching me to love life's numerous adventures.

When running out of breath,
She lets me rest in her downy sheath,
Under her wings is my world
Where the shadows never scared nor gnarled,
A warm cucoon she is,
For me, my heaven here is,
Snuggled near her,
To spend my life here, I prefer,
She is like a steady rock,
On her doors, I know, I can always knock,
She is my Angel I know,
Away from her I dread to go,
I love her the most,I realize as I rest,
Pillowed by her head, on her feathery breast.
