STAR

All stars twinkled,
Shone and glittered,
In the bosom of a dark night,
Shining bright.

How they shone I always wondered,
Tried counting, but they were in hundreds,
Sitting quietly on the window sill,
I gazed at them, sitting still.

Then I heard of more stars,
Actors who were stars,
Singing stars,
Artists and performing stars.

But these worldly stars did not shine,
They were not anyone's, nor mine,
All glamorous,
Just made for the cameras.

Painted and powdered,
They were beautiful outwards,
They did not shine like the stars,
Flitting in and out in flashy dresses and jazzy cars.

So I decided not to be like them,
Wanting to be a bright gem,
A someone who loved my world,
Someone who for the people cared.

I prefer to be a twinkling star,
Smiling away in the dark tar
Of the darkest night,
Twinkling away all bright.

Now I  always want to be one when gone,
Show light , keep shining upon
This earth I love so much,
Light it up with my golden touch.
