WINGED BEAUTIES

Trees felled,
Nests damaged,
Their eggs broken,
They look unspoken,
The winged beauties in a daze,
Unable to gaze
At the predators,
The cruel revellers,
Killing and culling,
Brutality enjoying,
The arrows that pierced,
Bullets fired,
Hunting ,
Just for eating
Destroying and finishing,
God's creation, their numbers diminishing.

Forests done away with,
Destroying their statues, their acroliths,
Humans damaging their homes,
To build concrete jungles,
Creating their palatial houses,
Where they cavort with their spouses,
Without any thought,
Nor any guilt
Of rendering their winged friends
Uncared for, homeless,
Left in the cold, their helpless progeny,
Human monstrosity, the etiology,
Left without food and nutrition,
Exposed to radiation,
Bearing the brunt of technical upgradation,
Becoming extinct, due to modernisation.

Why are we humans so selfish,
Turning so devilish,
Finishing beautiful creations,
In ways so brazen,
In fact we should cherish
Them, not letting the winged besuties perish,
They make our environment beauteous,
So full of life and melodious,
Add vibrant colours,
Both in summers, as well as cold winters,
Their droppings make the earth fertile,
Giving rise to grasses, bushes and myrtle
Dropping seeds and kernels,
They create gardens and jungles
Selflessly for their fellow beings,
All fauna and us human beings.

Can we be a little humane,
Respecting all creations,
Preserve these winged beauties,
Not make our earth gloomy
Without their chirpings,
Their sounds livening the mornings,
Let us all plant trees,
Not suffocate them, let them be free,
Not kill, nor strangulate,
Oh! Do not make them exanimate,
Let them mate and breed,
Fly happily, nest at will and feed
On fruits and grains, that nature has bestowed,
Provided to us equally and endowed,
Let us all vow and pledge
Not finish these beauties at a deadly edge,
Vow to save them, provide their natural homes,
Not on their blood and bones, build our Venice and Rome.
