MY WORLD

I was bored
Of the world I once adored,
Wanted to fly out,
Check what wonders lay about
In the space
What all shone in the Universe's face,
I held onto an angel's arm,
To the outer world, so full of charm.

We flew high
Above the coconut trees and the sky,
We laughed,
We floated,
Like mermaids we swam,
Into nothingness cool, but warm,
We passed the shining, golden stars,
Our own Jupiter and the red Mars.

I saw planets by the million,
Stars, a zillion,
All shining,
Warm and welcoming,
Some a little cold,
Some young, a few old,
But could not find any of my own,
Someone like me, in flesh and bone.

I passed through a thousand galaxies,
Starry ways milky,
Everything glittering
Like festoons and lights at a wedding,
I was happy and joyous,
Everything around was pure and pious,
Still something was amiss,
I missed my state of bliss.

Flying by I noticed a round ball,
Enveloped in beautiful colours all,
Blue, green, yellow and brown,
I wanted to put my feet down
And feel the beauty of it,
Was falling in love with it, I admit,
I asked the angel about the ball that whirled,
She said," It is your land, your own world".

How beautiful was my planet!
Why did I even leave it?
My wonderful beautiful world,
Where nature unfurled
Its beauteous charm,
Where fell golden sunrays warm,
The clouds blessed with cool pearly showers,
All around were beautiful birds, butterflies and flowers.

I missed the deserts, the mountains,
The plateaus,  the ravines,
High peaks and wavy oceans,
The trees, animals and humans,
Now I missed my beautiful Earth,
My place of birth,
I cried and howled
To go back like a child wild.

The angel smiled and left my finger
That she held, I fell down with a quaver,
My eyes opened and fluttered,
As at my dream I shivered and shuddered,
I will never leave my home,
This colourful place awesome,
So full of happiness and warmth,
My beautiful world, my Earth.

I love my world, adore it,
The snowy peaks, or the ocean floor be it,
Flowing rivers, gurgling streams,
The velvety nights, dewdrops and the moonbeam,
My people, my friends, my flora and fauna,
Different coloured humans but callunas,
This is where everybody is cared for and loved,
This is where my happiness is; this is 'My World'.
