SILKY, SATIN BLUE...

Against the silky, satin blue,
Amidst the cold, wintry hue,
The solitary branch awaits the green emeralds,
For the chirping, colourful birds to reassemble.

The small little emerald leaves,
The sap of life they receive
From the earth through tiny roots,
Soon shining big and bright, the radiant shoots.

They wait for the first bud to appear
Blossom into a beautiful flower,
Adding a tinge of colour to them,
Like a big ruby among the green gems.

The blue satin sky forming the perfect backdrop,
For the fork-tailed swallows, to stop,
To play and also pray for a drizzle,
To make their mates with passions, sizzle.

Meanwhile the branches of the old tree wait,
For the return of their friendly guests,
The chirping red and yellow breasts,
In their tiny, little 'tweedy' nests.

Waiting for the season of hopes,
Their feathered friends coming from beyond the slopes
Of the majestic mounts,
Every cold day giving way to warmth, they count.

Finally return the days happy,
Green and splurge of various colors,as far as you can see,
The chirpy music of the feathered fellows,
Sweet, musical and mellow.

Happily they mate and breed,
Among all colours grow their creed,
Happiness resonates all around,
The ground and the air, full of happy sounds abound.

The old tree with its branches,
Both young and old sways and dances,
Set against the silky, satin blue sky,
Touched by the warmth of the cool breeze passing by.
