THE RAINY NIGHT
The pitter patter of the rains,
The musical strains
Of the chattering crickets
From under the thickets,
The rhythmic croaking
Of the frogs,invoking
The the dark clouds,
To roar aloud
And pour down,
On earth's velvety gown,
Rundown in rivulets,
The drizzle presenting a ballet,
The lightening sets the stage on fire,
The percussionist, plays the thunder,
From the thick cloudy blanket,
Peeps a solitary star,as if guarding a picket.
In the alcove
Stir a pair of doves,
Shirking away the few droplets
That fell on them thoughtless,
They stare amazed,
When the lightening blazed,
Across the grey sky,
Feeling shy
They hide into each other,
Turning romantic undercover
In each other's feathery warmth,
Not paying heed to the world outside, thenceforth,
The bright red lady bird sat on a leaf,
Heaving a sigh of relief,
Crouched under another broad leaf green,
She sat dry and shone like a queen.
The rose petals had pearls on them,
The rain drops shimmering like gems,
The leaves sparkled like emeralds,
Scattered around in vast watery fields,
The frogs splashed into the puddles,
Creating playful ripples,
A moth flew into my room,
To save itself from a watery doom,
The light outside creates various forms,
Along with the drizzle's twist and turns,
I look out of my window
Seeing the water stretch billow,
The night air left my skin wet,
Making me forget
The heat of the day sun,
Finally the clouds won.
I kept standing
By my window watching,
The play of lights,
Against the sky high,
The thunderous roars,
Amidst the out pour
Of dancing water sheets,
Swaying on crazy beats,
The flapping sound of wings,
The crickety crick,as a cricket gently sings,
The swollen clouds cracking,
The water lashes against the glass panes rapping,
The cool, moist breeze
That touch my hair and tease
Me to come out and join
The rain and all the fun.
I could slowly hear
The dark silence tear
All the noise around
And in her cloak surround
Everything and put to rest,
To awaken to another day best,
Her quiet footsteps
Silently annex,
The territory of noise
With a calm poise,
My eyelids are heavy,
Sleep lodged in my eyes already,
One last look I take of the wet world outside
Before I decide to abide
By my sleepy eyes and go to sleep,
Taking a last plunge in the wet darkness, forever to keep.
